E-COMMERCE SEO
OCTOBER 2026
E-commerce SEO services.
In an online shop, traffic often comes from category pages rather than product pages. In e-commerce SEO, we build category and product pages around searches with purchase intent, bring the thousands of unnecessary URLs created by filters under control, and make sure your products appear in Google’s Shopping tab and in search results with their price, stock and rating.
- What is e-commerce SEO?
- SEO that makes an online shop’s category, product and guide pages visible in searches that lead to sales.
- What has the biggest effect?
- Category page structure, filter URLs, product structured data and mobile site speed.
- Which platforms?
- Mars CMS, WooCommerce, Shopify, the Turkish platforms ikas and IdeaSoft, and similar; on closed platforms, the scope is defined accordingly.
- When will I see results?
- Technical fixes usually show within 4–8 weeks, category and content growth within 3–6 months.
WHAT WE DO
Scope of e-commerce SEO.
Seven areas that determine a shop’s organic sales; each one runs on its own checklist.
- 01
Category pages
Category pages often answer the most valuable searches. We build the category structure around the phrases people search for, and write category titles and short descriptions to help people buy.
- 02
Product pages
Original copy instead of the manufacturer’s description repeated on every site, a correct heading structure, images with alt text and structured data carrying the product’s price, stock and rating.
- 03
Filter and sort URLs
Colour, size and price filters can generate thousands of URLs. We set rules for which stay in the index and which are not crawled, so Google spends its time on your important pages.
- 04
Out-of-stock and discontinued products
Does an out-of-stock product page stay, redirect to a similar product or get removed? We set a product lifecycle rule so you do not lose rankings you have earned.
- 05
Google Shopping and Merchant Center
An error-free product feed to Merchant Center, visibility in free product listings and consistency between the price on your site and the price in the feed.
- 06
Speed and mobile experience
Most visitors arrive on mobile. We improve Core Web Vitals through image sizes, third-party scripts and page templates.
- 07
Guide content and internal linking
Guides and comparisons that answer “Which one should I buy?”; with links from this content to category and product pages, we carry authority to your sales pages.
PLATFORMS AND INTEGRATIONS
Whatever platform your shop runs on.
We build the SEO work around your platform. Where needed, we also develop the product feed and integration side specifically for the project; the scope is defined in the quote.

PAGE TYPES
A different buyer for each page type.
SEO for an online shop starts with sending each search to the right page type. If both a category page and a product page show up for the same search, they drag each other down.
- 01
Category page
- SEARCHER
- Wants to compare before buying
- EXAMPLE SEARCH
- “men’s leather boots”
- WHAT WE DO
- Category structure based on the searched phrase, a short description, filter rules and internal links.
- 02
Product page
- SEARCHER
- Knows what they want to buy
- EXAMPLE SEARCH
- “brand + model + size”
- WHAT WE DO
- Original description, images, structured data carrying price, stock and rating, and variant management.
- 03
Guide content
- SEARCHER
- Still researching
- EXAMPLE SEARCH
- “how to clean leather boots”
- WHAT WE DO
- Content that answers the question, with links from there to categories and products.
AN HONEST MATCH
Who it suits, and when it is not enough?
WHO IT SUITS
- Online shops with hundreds of products and several categories
- Brands that want to grow their share of organic sales as advertising costs rise
- Businesses selling on marketplaces that also want sales from their own site
- Anyone who wants to protect their traffic before a platform change or redesign
WHEN IT IS NOT ENOUGH
- For a shop with only a few products, comprehensive e-commerce SEO is more than needed; we tell you which package fits in the first audit.
- If price, shipping or stock problems are blocking sales, SEO may bring traffic but it will not convert; that obstacle needs to be discussed first.
- On platforms that allow no changes to product descriptions, images or categories, the impact stays limited.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions about E-commerce SEO
answered.
If your question is not answered here, write to us; we reply within 24 hours.
Ask a question → How is e-commerce SEO done?
First the shop is audited: the state of category and product pages, filter URLs, structured data and speed. Then searches with purchase intent are mapped to category and product pages, technical rules are applied, category copy and product descriptions are made original, and guide content carries authority to the sales pages. Results are measured by category and product.
How much does e-commerce SEO cost?
For shops with large catalogues and many categories, our e-commerce SEO scope starts from £1,690 · €1,950 a month, with a minimum term of 3 months. For shops with few products, one of our monthly SEO packages may be enough. The final amount is set after the initial audit, based on the number of products, the platform and the competition.
Is it a problem to use the manufacturer’s product description?
If the same description is live on dozens of sites, Google has no reason to choose you. You do not need to rewrite every product; we start with the most searched and best-selling products and add original copy, usage information and frequently asked questions to them.
Should filter pages be indexed by Google?
Not all of them. A combination people genuinely search for, such as “black leather shoes”, deserves its own page; URLs for price sorting or three filters selected together should not be crawled. We use data to decide which combinations match a searched phrase and turn that into rules.
Should I delete an out-of-stock product page?
If the product will come back, the page should stay and show the correct stock status. If it has been permanently discontinued, redirecting it to the closest product or category protects the rankings it has earned. Deleting it and leaving an empty page is the worst option.
I sell on marketplaces; do I need SEO for my own site?
Marketplaces bring sales, but the customer belongs to the marketplace, and the commission and advertising costs are yours. Organic traffic to your own site improves your profit margin and reduces your dependence on the marketplace. The two can run together; managing product data from one place reduces the workload.
Can SEO be done on Shopify, ikas or IdeaSoft?
Yes. On these platforms, most of the category structure, product content, redirects and structured data can be managed. Some areas, such as server settings, may be closed; we state clearly in the audit what is possible.
