A site that connects new students with a volunteer team
Kampüse Hoş Geldin helps students starting university with scholarship, dormitory, programme choice and city guidance through volunteer students in 81 provinces. We moved its site to the Mars CMS platform while keeping the design visitors know: the content was transferred to the admin panel, and the addresses Google knows work as before. The registration page became a three-step form; the province, university, faculty and department lists come from official YÖK Atlas data.

Kampüse Hoş Geldin is a community that helps students starting university, through volunteer students in 81 provinces. It grew out of volunteers who set up stands at bus stations, in squares and on campuses during registration periods to welcome newly arriving students; today it offers guidance on scholarships, dormitories, programme choices and cities. Taking part in events is free and open to all university students.
We moved the site to the Mars CMS platform while keeping the design visitors know: blog posts, FAQs, pages and images were transferred to the admin panel, and the addresses Google knows work as before. The team can now manage the content from its own admin panel.
The biggest change is on the registration page. Students first read what happens when they sign up, then fill in the three-step form; they choose their province, university, faculty and department from the official lists of YÖK Atlas, the university programme database of Türkiye’s Council of Higher Education. The registration lands in the admin panel, and the team refers the student to the volunteer team in their province. During the programme choice period, Tercih Robotu (‘Choice Robot’) presents YÖK Atlas’s programme choice wizard inside the site.
APPROACH
Built step by step.
Kampüse Hoş Geldin's mission is not to leave new students on their own: volunteers who set up stands at bus stations, in squares and on campuses during the registration period and say 'You are not alone far from home'. The site has two jobs: answering the student's questions and connecting them with the volunteer team in their province. The work progressed under five headings.
-
PHASE 01
To a new platform, keeping the design
The site was moved to the Mars CMS platform while keeping the design visitors know. The 230 pages on the live site were taken as the basis; 29 blog posts, 17 FAQ answers, the pages and images were transferred to the admin panel, and the texts were kept as they were. The addresses Google knows (including /kayıt, /sıkcasorulansorular and /Kampus/TercihMotoru) work as before; the team can manage all content from a single panel.
-
PHASE 02
Sign up: first why, then the form
The registration page first explains what signing up brings: meeting the provincial representative, announcements of trips and events, scholarship news, and guidance on dormitories and accommodation. The three points in the trust strip (no fee for any event, open to all university students, 81 provinces and Northern Cyprus) were taken from the site's own FAQ answers; a 'How does it work?' section sums up the process in three steps.
-
PHASE 03
A three-step form and YÖK Atlas lists
The form was split into three steps with a progress indicator at the top: personal details, university, contact. In the second step, province, university, faculty and department are chosen in turn. The lists were generated from the 21,493 programmes in the official YÖK Atlas 2026 programme choice guide (YÖK Atlas being the official university programme database of Türkiye's Council of Higher Education) and are sorted by the Turkish alphabet; when a province is chosen, only that province's data is loaded. A student who cannot find their option can type it in with 'Not on my list'; if a list fails to load, the form does not lock up but switches to manual entry.
-
PHASE 04
KVKK and tracking registrations
The form has an explicit consent checkbox under KVKK (Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law); submissions are protected against spam with a hidden honeypot field and a submission limit. Every registration lands in the admin panel. From a registration list that is closed to search engines and opened with an access key, the team exports registrations to Excel in one click and refers each student to the volunteer team in their province.
-
PHASE 05
Tercih Robotu and Nesi Meşhur
Tercih Robotu ('Choice Robot') presents YÖK Atlas's official programme choice wizard inside the site: students filter by score type, university, programme, city and scholarship status and see quotas, occupancy and success rankings without leaving the site. The Nesi Meşhur ('What's It Famous For') section holds a city guide for all 81 provinces; each province is edited from the admin panel like a post.
